Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration About Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
