Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
